SEISMIC RETROFITTING SERVICE IN the greater LOS ANGELES AREA
Ordinance No. 183893
What It Means to Property Owners
Earthquakes are always a risk in California. In January of 2014, the City of Los Angeles decided to take on this risk head-on. The city joined forces with the Structural Engineers Association of Southern California (SEAOSC) and other seismology experts to create a plan for the city to make improvements to become more resilient in a seismic event. Over the course of the next year, the city created a report recommending specific actions to evaluate and strengthen not only the city’s infrastructure, but also the vulnerable commercial and multi-family soft story and non-ductile concrete buildings that are at high risk in an earthquake.
